The Magical Casting Company creates exclusive yet affordable pieces of personalised art. We specialise in lifecasting of the very highest quality. This is not a new art form, it dates from when Queen Victoria commissioned the carving of her nine children’s hands and feet and a trend was started. The casting of babies’ hands and feet is probably the most popular form of lifecasting. It is a specialist technique which allows us to create life-sized replicas of your baby's hands and feet in a variety of different materials and finishes.

How it’s done We use a safe non-toxic material (dentists use it for taking impressions of teeth in the mouth). This specialist material enables us to pick up intricate details such as fingerprints, nails, and creases. The child's hand or foot is placed in this gel for about a minute. It causes no discomfort and it doesn't matter if the child moves during the process – we're used to dealing with wriggly children! Once the mould has set, the hand or foot is gently eased out and the moulding process is over – it’s as simple as that and also lots of fun!

We will ensure you and your child are at ease during the appointment and have a number of ways of soothing or distracting your child – even the most difficult child is not a problem! Our strengths lie in not only our ability to empathise with our clients (all our craftsmen are parents and are CRB checked) but also, more importantly, to ensure you are absolutely delighted with the results.

How long does it take? The average appointment is for an hour. We make handcrafted personalised products and the process from casting to presenting the end product can take up to 28 days. If you have a deadline to meet like a Birthday or Christening however we’ll do our best to get the finished product to you in time.

What’s included in the price? We provide a professional casting service in the comfort and convenience of your own home at a time to suit you - including evenings and weekends. The finished three dimensional cast will be personally delivered to your home. We make a master mould as standard enabling copies of the cast to be made. This means that extra copies are available for family and friends at a 20% discount. The master mould is stored free of charge for a minimum of 12 months. Satisfaction is guaranteed and if you are not 100% happy with our product we will not charge you a penny.

Other information Gift vouchers are available and make a truly unique gift for new parents, Christening, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays, Leaving Presents and Christmas.
